Let me explain... no there is too much... let me sum up:
I was born and have lived in Edmonton, Alberta my whole life. I have dreamt of becoming a geologist since I first learned that it was a job when I was in Grade 3. I enjoy almost any outdoor activity including hiking, biking, and climbing. I tend to think of myself as an optimistic pessimist, expecting the best but always preparing for the worst at the same time.
I constantly come up with grand plans about what I'm going to do but unless I act upon them almost immediately they often end up by the wayside.
I have always loved to read and will read almost anything that is put in front of me. I am an avid fan of Lord of the Rings, and have read the books too many times to count. My favourite comfort author is Anne Bishop who writes wonderful "sniffly" books. I am a Terry Pratchett addict, and I absolutely am NOT a rabid Neil Gaiman fangirl (and for anyone who didn't get it, that was sarcasm of the highest order)
My ultimate goal in life is to be happy and to bring happiness to as many people as I possibly can while learning absolutely as much as I can about everything around me. That, and to become a spunky, eccentric old maid of a geologist who can outpace almost anyone else in the field even when I hit 60!
I tend to spend quite a deal of time in introspection and the analysis of myself and the people around me. I enjoy people watching, but tend to be uncomfortable in large crowds when I don't have someone I know with me. My main faults, to my mind, are a tendancy to attempt to detach myself from situations and my insecurity with where I stand with other people... although there are many more, far too numerous to mention. But what would I do if I was perfect? That would be an awfully boring life.
And I am, quite plain and simply a geek. And damn proud of it!
